Day 7 Lyon to Carcassone

Train travel from Lyon to Carcassone in the south was relatively easy. The train itself was very good large comfy seats, plenty of room, places for luggage and a drop down table for you to lean on if needed. The only problem was lugging the heavy suitcases up and down flights of stairs at the station and in the train(no lift to suit us oldies).
Carcassone is a place to visit, we were told along our way, but we only had a short time here as we needed to get from Carcassone to Trebes to start the boating adventure.
Quick lunch and a few supplies bought, as we couldn't pick up the boat till after 4, and then a taxi to Trebes, it's the only way and there are only 8 taxis to cover the whole area.
Waiting, waiting for taxi with just a few belongings.

Trebes is a lovely peaceful village and the place where the next 7 days begins. Our boat was ready for us and after a quick instruction we decided to stay the night there as the weather was coming in and we needed to get more supplies as we found out that nothing is open past 12 on a Sunday(tomorrow) and Monday was a public holiday with nothing open anywhere. A short walk of a kilometre to the supermarket presented a few problems on how to get all the supplies back with no taxi available, no bus service, no carry bags or boxes! So picture 2 sixty year olds doing the wrong thing and walking a trolley full of groceries through the thankfully quiet streets.
The other reason for not taking off was just around the first bend in the canal was the first lock which was to be a baptism of fire as it was a triple lock.
First glass of wine on our home away from home for a while. Looking across at Trebes.
Inside has plenty of space and very well equiped.
A local dropped by to say hi.
Looking forward to what lies ahead.
